Lanolin, a waxy substance produced by sheep’s fleece, acts as a natural barrier against the elements. It is frequently promoted as a natural skincare solution for nursing mothers, and it has become a popular ingredient in moisturisers, hair care products, and soaps. Furthermore, it has grown in popularity in recent years. Lanolin is produced by sheep’s sebaceous glands and contributes to the softness, moisture, and resistance to environmental effects of sheep’s wool.Lanolin’s properties are similar to those of sebum, which is produced by our skin. To extract lanolin, raw wool is either washed in a soap solution or kneaded in hot water, then processed further for commercial use. The lanolin is then separated using a centrifuge. The product is further processed by drying, bleaching, and deodorising.
